Hi. It's me again. Because, you know, who else would be blogging on my blog? Anyway, I had to take a few minutes out of my day and tell you about my new favorite show, Awkward, on MTV Tuesday nights at 11 pm. That's right--tonight!!
Yes, yes, I can hear you now: What?? Another crappy MTV show??
And let me answer you with a resounding NO!!!
Granted, it's on MTV--which is a channel I usually do not venture toward--BUT it's no reality show, and it's incredibly witty. Imagine the zingy one-liners of Gilmore Girls, throw in some Juno quirkiness, and a whole lotta your high school memories. Voila!
The background: meet Jenna. She's pretty much invisible, but that doesn't stop her from crushing on Matty, the most popular guy in school. After a crapy day, she goes home with a headache and faces her childish parents (they are the several-years-from-now-versions of Teen Mom cast members...). She runs a bath and takes some Aspirin...but coughs, dropping the Cost-Co sized bottle--pills flying all over the floor--and knocking the hair dryer into the bath, falling and breaking her arm and shoulder. Her parents rush in and assume she was trying to commit suicide. Great. Suddenly, everyone at school knows who she is--"that girl, you know, the suicide one--what an attention hog!" and her life is forever changed.
It's fab.
